The Dallas Cowboys continued to strengthen the defensive side of the ball by signing free agent defensive tackle Cedric Thornton. The deal is believed to be four-years and $17 million. This move bolsters the middle of the defensive line by pairing Thornton with Tyrone Crawford, whom the Cowboys signed to a contract extension in 2015.

Wednesday free agent middle linebacker Rolando McClain re-signed with the Cowboys for $5 million. Thornton brings size and athleticism to a line that now features players that can play multiple positions. Crawford and Thornton can play defensive end. Both have the size to play in the interior as well. With DeMarcus Lawrence recovering from back surgery and Randy Gregory serving a four-game suspension, Thornton's signing is huge.
