Clippers Lose More Than Just Game

The Los Angeles Clippers have been the NBA's mystery team ever since Doc Rivers took over as head coach and President of basketball Operations. They have the talent that can beat any team on any given night, yet they have not reached the western conference finals. Unfortunately that trend may continue.

After losing game four to the Portland Trailblazers 98-84 and now with the series tied 2-2, the Clippers received even worse news when all-star point guard Chris Paul broke his right hand and may miss the rest of the playoffs. Paul is not only their floor leader and captain, he is one of the team's leading scorers, averaging 19.5 points per game.

During his press conference, Rivers stated that "it didn't look good" for Paul. The Clippers now have to reshuffle their lineup and find ways not only to replace Paul's scoring, but his leadership will be missed the most. Paul isn't the only Clipper fighting the injury bug. Forward Blake Griffin re-aggravated his quad injury and did not play the fourth quarter in Monday night's game. According to Rivers, Griffin's availability for game five is "50/50." The Clippers all-star missed 45 games this season, in part due to the quad injury. The team registered a 29-16 record without him, but that was with Paul in the lineup.
